In addition to their own dazzling and touching arrangements and the distinctive popular crossover compositions by Joachim Claucig, with which the ensemble Crossplay Vienna has already built up a fan club, Crossplay Vienna is actively involved in another, special, musical style:
Composer Joachim Claucig describes the style as Contemporary Classical (and Electronic) Crossover Music. Here too, it is particularly important to him and the Crossplay Vienna team to produce contemporary music that leaves you wanting more.
Contemporary Music by Joachim Claucig and Crossplay Vienna is not brittle melodies or acoustic chaos that you would prefer to run away from, but quite the opposite: It is music that (partly with and partly without electronic elements) uses astonishingly authentic sounds that seem to be taken directly from life to exploit the possibilities of classical instruments to the fullest, thereby becoming an unforgettable, multidimensional experience for the listener, which is a treat for the ears, eyes and emotions.
World Premiere Water Miracles
Joachim Claucig kicked off this project with the instrumental composition Water Miracles for violin/viola, trombone and piano, which presented the three instrumentalists of the ensemble, Serim Galip, Clemens Hofer and the composer himself, with unusual musical and technical challenges. As part of the concert series Die rote Brille, curated by Prof. Werner Hackl, the premiere on June 1st, 2023 was announced with the following words:
“The crowning finale is the trio from the formation Crossplay Vienna with the world premiere of ‘Water Miracles’, composed by multi-artist JOACHIM CLAUCIG, who himself leads on the piano, trombonist CLEMENS HOFER and SERIM GALIP, the latter playing both violin and viola."
The audience acknowledged the work and the performance with thunderous applause and standing ovations, which was the crowning conclusion to the evening.
The studio recordings of Water Miracles will soon be completed - and further compositions are already in preparation: This will also integrate singer Birgit Kubica and her voice into the new contemporary style of Crossplay Vienna.
